another gem

Yet another co-worker (she recently returned from being gone all summer):

Co-worker: What was the most interesting thing that happened to you all summer?
Me: Ummm, probably getting hit by a car on my bike.
Co-worker: Was it at least a fun car?
Me (looking up in great confusion): I got hit by a car on my bike.
Co-worker: But was it a fun car?
Me: No, it was a Chevy Astro van.
Co-worker: Oh, that's too bad.

I could not make this stuff up.

huh

One of my coworkers:

"Was the guy that hit you nice?"
"Ummm . . . I don't know. My husband said he seemed kind of shocked."
"If he's nice maybe you shouldn't make him pay for everything."
"He's not paying. His insurance is paying. But maybe his rates will go up."
"Why don't you just pay for it?"
"Because it wasn't my fault."
"But if he's nice . . . "
"Well, I'm nice too."
"Still, I don't know if nice people should have to pay."

New Policy: You only pay for mistakes if you are really really mean!!!! Bwhahaha! I guess everyone else gets to slide through.

spam?

One of my old friends sent me an e-mail today. We used to correspond by letters. E-mail is new for us. Her last name is Dickinson. She and her husband use "thedickinsons@.....com." Gmail shortened it in a most inopportune way. It was only when I realized that I had responded to a previous e-mail that saved it from immediate deletion!

A Vertiable Mystery

Yesterday morning I found a dead bird on the porch. We'd had a wild storm the night before so I assumed he got caught out and was flung onto the porch. Tim disposed of him. Then, this morning, there was a dead bird in the driveway. Mmmmmm . . . lucky for Tim it was gone by the time we got home.

A cat?
